DaRond Stovall

After four years of playing baseball at Althoff HS, DaRond was drafted in the 5th round by the St Louis Cardinals. He spent a total of 13 years playing minor league baseball at various levels. DaRond finally achieved his ultimate goal in 1998, getting the opportunity to play in the Majors with the Montreal Expos. While in their organization, he received the Defensive Player of the Year (’95) within the organization! He also set an Eastern League (AA) record (‘97) with 31 RBIs in the month of April.

DaRond has coached Club baseball for 12 years and 10 years of HS ball (Webster Groves: ‘13-‘19, Whitfield HS: ‘20-Present).

He loves seeing kids develop, especially on the mental side, while reaching their full potential. DaRond’s attention to detail is second to none.

Achievements

-Drafted in the 5th round by the STL Cardinals (Althoff High School)

-Selected to the Florida State League All Star Game in ‘94

-Named Expos organization defensive player of the year in ‘95

-Set an Eastern League Record with 31 RBI’s in April for Harrisburg (AA)

-Instrumental in Back to Back Championships for the ‘96 & ’97 Eastern League seasons (AA)

-Made the opening day roster for the Montreal Expos ‘98

-Recorded first Major League Hit at Wrigley Field, April ‘98

-Hit a pinch hit Grand Slam to beat the Atlanta Braves at Turner Field, June ‘98 (See YouTube)

-Broke the Home Run record for the Somerset Patriots of the Atlantic League with 22 in 2001
